[Poster Presentation] Dielectric loss Reduction of Liquid Crystal for Microwave Frequency Phase Shifters

(in English) In this study, we evaluated the relationship between the molecular structure of liquid crystal exhibiting a nematic phase at room temperature and dielectric loss in the microwave band for realization of liquid crystal phase shifter. The phase shifter can continuously control the microwave band beam along any direction. As the results, we clarified that relatively rigid molecular structure, fluorine in polar group and the temperature reduction in the operating environment leads to a decreasing of dielectric loss. We considered that suppression of thermal vibration in liquid crystal molecules improved dielectric loss.
