Estimation of camera parameters from starry photographs

(in English) Estimation of the range of the sky captured by a starry photograph is useful for classification or editing of the images of the night sky. We propose a method for estimating camera parameters used to capture starry images. The previous method requires precomputation of index data from a database of positions of all stars. Furthermore, the method takes long time to estimate the range of the sky captured in a given input image. In this article, we present a method that estimates the camera parameters used to capture an input wide-angle image without the precomputation. Our method is much faster and more accurate than the previous method. Our method computes area ratios of stars in the input image and use them to extract necessary data from a star catalogue. The camera parameters are estimated by simple geometric calculations. Our method achieves more than ten times faster computation.
