Study on a FFS-LCD with an Insulator functioned as Optical Compensation Film

(in English) A FFS-LCD characterized with its high image quality has been becoming one of the important display modes, which has an insulating layer on one glass substrate side, which is sandwiched between two ITO electrodes. In this research work, we aim to develop a higher performance FFS-LCD by replacing the conventional insulating layer to a functional insulating layer acting as an in-cell optical compensation film. We present the optical and electrical properties of the functional insulating layer and show the improvement of viewing angle properties of fabricated FFS-LCDs.
