Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) are microscopic nanostructures with a diameter of several tens of nanometers, and the electrons confined in the QDs emit light efficiently with low electric power consumption. Furthermore, the electrons also have the property of the magnet and can be store information by the bias of the direction of the magnets (spin polarization). This electron spin information is stored in a metallic ferromagnet without electric power consumption, and can be converted into the circularly polarized light and transferred. In this study, we have studied the optical spin properties of p-doped QDs to achieve a strong emission intensity and a high electron spin polarization at room temperature, which are essential for opto-spintronics applications. |
