Jitter Analysis and Interoperability Enhancement for Ultrahigh-definition Signal/Data Interface

(in English) Cyclic Redundancy Check errors and several visible errors were observed in video production equipment supporting Ultrahigh-definition Signal/Data Interfaces (U-SDI). Moreover, errors exceeding the specifications of ITU-R BT. 2077 were noted in an optical output eye mask test. The U-SDI signal involved two jitter sources: Intersymbol–Interference (ISI) caused by the skin effect and dissipation factor, and periodic jitter caused by the ripple in the power delivery network (PDN). The ISI could be suppressed by adjusting the amplitude of the differential signal and pre-emphasis in the transmitter. In addition, the periodic jitter could be suppressed by selecting an appropriate capacitance of the decoupling capacitors and switching frequency of the PDN.
