Prototype evaluation of a video viewing application for TVs that enables program watching without awareness of transmission paths

(in English) Current video viewing applications for TVs have the problem of not being able to go back and forth between broadcasting and the Internet while viewing program content. Based on the specifications of the integrated broadcast-broadband system, we have devised an application-based extension suitable for program watching on TVs that can be activated and operated regardless of the state of broadcast reception. We have also developed a prototype receiver based on the proposed method and verified its operation using a service application to confirm that it is possible to realize a service that satisfies the functional requirements and application operation model of the proposed method. By using the proposed method, it is possible to reduce the cost of application development and service operation, and to realize a program watching service that does not consider the transmission path between broadcasting and the Internet.
