A Hardware-Oriented Algorithm for Person Recognition Processing using GMM-MRCoHOG features

(in English) In this research, we focus on Gaussian Mixture Model-MultiResolution Co-occurrence Histograms of Oriented Gradients (GMM-MRCoHOG) using luminance gradients and develop a hardware-oriented algorithm to implement it on field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). In the proposed method, the calculation of luminance gradient in 36 directions, which is a high-cost operation in the conventional method, is simplified by using lookup tables (LUTs) to reduce the circuit size and this method improve the accuracy. Additionally, we design a human recognition architecture using the proposed algorithm. As a result of the verification, the processing speed was about 123 times faster than that of the FPGAs implementation of VGG-16.
