Waveguide using HOE with image magnification

(in English) The waveguides with HOEs have been developed to miniaturize the optical systems used for head mounted displays and smart glasses. However, in the previous systems, the image size maintains unchanged during the light propagation in the waveguides. In this study, a color image emitted from a projector is made incident into the wedge surface of a waveguide as divergent light and propagates through the waveguide by total reflection. Finally, the propagating image is diffracted by the HOE and taken out of the waveguide to realize the magnified transmission of the image.
