Reduction of Power Consumption for Autostereoscopic Display Based on Time-Division Multiplexing Parallax Barrier

(in English) In this paper, we propose a time-division multiplexing parallax barrier system with reduced power consumption by using a lenticular lens to generate active barrier slits. The conventional time-division parallax barrier system requires high energy consumption because of the usage of layered LCD panels, which causes loss of luminance. In the proposed system, a fine slit pattern is generated by projecting LED stripes through a lenticular lens, where active change of slit pattern is realized by changing the positions of LED emission. We measure and confirm reduction of power consumption with a prototype system.
