Subjective evaluation of impressions of true-size display of facial expressions using light field display

Based on experiences of our previous research, we assume that true-size 3D images of human faces displayed by the light field display can provide viewers with facial expression and emotions more effectively compared to those displayed by 2D displays. In this study, the subjective evaluation regarding to the observer’s impressions was conducted using the near-virtual image mode light field display with a screen size of 31.5 inch. and a viewing angle of 43.8. Dynamically changing facial expressions were displayed. We found that there were significant differences in “sense of affinity”, “feeling like touching”, “stereoscopic sensation”, “fatigue”, and “sense of existence.” |
