An EMG Measurement in Weight Illusion by Impression Change of the Own Body

(in English) It has been suggested that changes in self-perception using VR avatars affect even weight perception, but how the body is affected during the illusion of impression change has not been examined. In this study, we measured EMG potentials in the upper arm and forearm during a dumbbell weight comparison experiment to investigate the effects of avatar impressions, the degree of weight illusion, and EMG potentials on the body during the illusion. The results showed a weak positive correlation between the degree of the illusion and the rate of increase or decrease of the EMG potentials in the forearm.
