A Study of Projection Mapping in Bright Environments

In recent years, image projection using a projector has been performed as one of the spatial effects at events, and is generally called projection mapping. However, in the conventional projection mapping, it is premised that the room is a dark environment in order to reduce the influence of the ambient light on the object to be projected. The part other than the projection target becomes dark, and there is a concern the loss of the work efficiency of the observer, the danger due to movement, and the loss of visibility other than the projection target. Thus, in this research, we propose the realization of projection mapping in a bright indoor environment by using a projector as lighting to enable control of ambient light. We will evaluate the effect of ambient light on the target object when the projector is used as lighting, and examine the feasibility of the proposed method. |
