Mode diffusion technique for reduction of crosstalk in volume holographic mode demultiplexer

(in English) Volume holographic demultiplexers (VHDMs) utilize angularly multiplexed volume holograms to separate multiplexed spatial modes with the simple optical system. In VHDM, the separation performance is degraded by the crosstalk owing to the non-reconstruction holograms corresponding to other modes. To address this issue, the mode diffusion technique for reduction of crosstalk in VHDM is proposed herein, which can separate the diffracted beam and crosstalk components from the propagation angle difference produced by using random diffusers to achieve a high separation performance. Numerical simulations are performed, and the results show that the separation performance is significantly improved.
