An Examination of Effective Auditory Stimuli for Spatial Search of Transparent Virtual Objects

(in English) In an immersive virtual reality environment, selection and manipulation of multiple objects pose challenges such as narrow viewing angles and difficulty in attention allocation. Therefore, object search that does not rely on vision is necessary. This study focused on the frequency, sound pressure of auditory stimuli, and we conducted an experiment on visibility-free spatial search of virtual objects in the horizontal and vertical directions. As a result of the experiment, it was possible to search for the virtual objects with an error of about 1cm. In addition, we found that when users perceive the change of sound, the octave change is more important than the frequency change.
