Effect of tilt of visual stimulus on stability of running posture

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to develop a training method for performance improvement by correcting running posture in running by applying AR technology, this study focused on the role of visual information during running. In the past, several studies have reported that when a stationary line is presented as visual information to a stationary observer in a standing posture, the observer's body tilts in the direction of the tilted line. In this study, we reveal whether the tilt of the presented visual stimuli affects the running posture as well as the standing posture. In the experiment, visual stimuli projected by a projector were presented in front of the participants on a treadmill in a semi-dark room. A motion capture camera was used to measure the posture of the subject. Five conditions were used for the visual stimuli (non-stimuli, line, square and Two types of scenery), and Three conditions were used for the tilt of the visual stimuli (0, 11.25, 22.5 deg). Furthermore, there were 10 participants and the speed of the treadmill was 8 km/h. The results of the experiment showed that the body tilted in the direction of the stimulus in the scenery stimulus. This result suggests that spatial recognition such as up, down, left, and right in three-dimensional visual space affects the running posture.
