Figure Illuminating: A Conception of an Art Competition with Stage Lighting

We are exploring the unique usage and availability of stage lighting. In this study, we propose an art competition with stage lighting. Specifically, we are envisioning Figure Illuminating, a competition in which participants manipulate moving lights to draw figures and symbols with light, and manipulate moving lights in time with the music to create a space. The moving lights, which are often used for concerts, not only move up and down, left and right, and over a wide area, but also have multiple built-in light colors to create a vivid effect in the space. However, in order to realize the competition, there are issues that need to be considered, including the formulation of rules. In this study, we used the competition rules of sport kites (competition kites) as a reference, studied the reference model of the dimming table, implemented the prototype system, and conducted a demonstration performance. Thus, this study not only proposes a highly entertaining competition with stage lighting, but also a simple and intuitive user interface for lighting operation. |
