Viewer Interest Inference by Analyzing Electronic Program Guides

(in English) We are researching a TV watching robot that communicates with persons based on their interests. In this paper, we propose two methods of inferring person’s interests with their TV viewing history. Those methods calculate person’s interest degree for each word based on the frequency of appearance of each word in the electronic program guide (EPG) documents, which includes the summaries and the performers of the TV programs that have been watched by the person in a certain period of time. The first proposed method finds the interest words of a person well in case the TV programs related to those words were frequently broadcasted, whereas the second one is good at finding the interest words of the person in case the TV programs related to those words were rarely broadcasted. We show the interests of three persons which our methods inferred in the word cloud charts.
