An 8K image perceptual scramble scheme for JPEG XS standard

(in English) In this report, we propose a scrambled image compression algorithm for the JPEG XS standard. The JPEG XS is a low-delay, lightweight, visually lossless image coding established by the JPEG Committee (formally known as ISO/IEC SC29 WG1) in 2019.
Assuming real-time encoding of 8K ultra-high-definition images, we use the light subline profile, which has the lowest computational complexity among JPEG XS profiles.
In image scrambling, random line permutation and random line inversion are applied.
This scrambled method maintains the horizontal correlation of the original image so that the rate-distortion performance is not reduced as much as possible. Simulation results show that compression by the JPEG XS is possible for the scrambled images and the rate-distortion performance is slightly lower than that for the non-scrambled images.
