Evaluation of Images Visibility under Obstructive Illumination in Volumetric 3D Display Using a Rotating Helical Screen

(in English) We have proposed a volumetric 3D display in which cross-sectional images are projected on a rotating helical screen. This method can offer observation from universal directions. However, image visibility is affected by the obstructive illumination against the 3D images. Our prototype 3D display was used to evaluate the visibility of 3D images under obstructive illuminations. The conditions when 3D images are visible enough were determined by subjective evaluations. The illuminance of a projector for getting enough visibility of 3D images were clarified under wide range of obstructive illuminations.
