Investigation of larger size of aerial image transcending mirror and evaluation of optical characteristics

We have proposed the concept of Aerial Image Transcending Mirror (AITM), which can continuously transfer digital information not only to the mirror space but also to the real space, and are investigating a new optical system that extends retroreflective optics to realize the concept of AITM. In previous study, a tabletop-sized prototype has been implemented to demonstrate the feasibility of the concept. In this paper, we report the results of an experiment in which we implemented a prototype capable of displaying a larger aerial image by tiling retroreflective-reflectors and evaluated the luminance distribution of the projected aerial image. |
