Improvement of blur for approximated super multi-view display by bidirectional one-dimensional shifts of viewpoints

(in English) We have explored the relationships between viewpoint generation schemes and blurs in the retinal images for an approximated super multi-view display in order to reduce the visual fatigue of the head mounted displays. When the viewpoints are shifted one-dimensionally in the horizontal direction, blurs become smaller in the horizontal direction and larger in the vertical direction. When the viewpoints are shifted in the vertical direction, the relationships between horizontal and vertical blurs are inverted. In this study, we propose a new viewpoint generation scheme in which the viewpoints are shifted horizontally and vertically alternatively so that blurs are averaged in both horizontal and vertical directions. This technique has the possibility to reduce blurs to be close to those provided by the two-dimensional (2D) viewpoint shifts using a smaller number of viewpoints shifts than the 2D viewpoint shifts.
