Glossiness can be increased by adding chromatic colors to the object images. However, it is unclear what mechanisms induce this color-induced glossiness enhancement. In this study, we psychophysically measured the glossiness of object images to which various hue chromaticities were added to elucidate the perceptual and image factors that explain the color-induced glossiness enhancement effect. Furthermore, we performed data analysis with a linear mixed model based on image features. These results suggest that the Helmholtz-Kohlrausch effect, especially in the highlight region, is a dominant factor inducing the color-induced glossiness enhancement. |
