Alignment Stabilization of Thick LC Layer for Millimeter-wave Control by Polymer Wall Surface

(in English) In recent years, Reflect Arrays (RA) have become a promising technology to expand the coverage areas of beyond 5G communication systems. To use the thick LC in Reflect Arrays, it is necessary to achieve both a low driving voltage and a fast fall-response time. To realize these, in this study we proposed the structure in which LC layers are divided by polymer walls. In this report, we fabricated the device and confirmed its basic operation. As a result, it was clarified that the proposed structure enables stabilization of LC alignment by the wall surface and is effective for both low driving voltage and fast fall response.
