Diffusion of Innovation by Startups -- Imitation and legitimization by major companies --

(in English) While venture companies are attracting attention as new innovation leaders in Japan, some major firms have started to imitate their products. In general, major firms are much larger than venture firms, and their imitative should pose a serious threat to venture firms, but in the actual market, on the contrary, some venture firms are growing rapidly. In this study, we examine the possibility that the success of innovation is promoted when venture firms that have launched innovative products are subjected to imitative entry by large firms, from the viewpoints of market creation and legitimation.
