Super-Multiview Tabletop Display with Two-Dimensional Parallax Based on Time Division Multiplexing Parallax Barrier

Time-division multiplexing parallax barriers are known to realize high-definition super-multiview stereoscopic displays. However, conventional methods present parallax only in one direction, and thus cannot induce focus accommodation for edges orthogonal to the direction of parallax. In this paper, we propose a method that alternately displays parallax barrier patterns with two differently tinted angles and the images with corresponding parallax. It is confirmed that the time-division multiplexing of these two types of patterns reproduces focal effect to the lines with arbitrary angles. In addition, the results of experiments with human subjects show induction of focus accommodation as expected. |
