Development of 3D glasses for stereoscopic endoscope to reduce visual fatigue

(in English) Although glass-type stereoscopic display requires wearing of three-dimensional (3D) glasses, it provides high-resolution 3D images. We have proposed a method for reducing visual fatigue caused by vergence-accommodation conflict by combining a third-order aspherical phase plate that expands the depth of field with 3D glasses and have demonstrated its effectiveness. In this study, we apply the proposed method to stereoscopic endoscopy to reduce the visual fatigue of the operators in endoscopic surgery. Therefore, based on the opinions of doctors, we have developed 3D glasses specialized for endoscopic surgery. This paper also describes a plan for subjective evaluation of the developed 3D glasses in the hospital.
