[Invited Talk] Development of transparent photoluminescence materials and their application to LEDs, security and sensing -- Novel Eu(III) complexes and their photoluminescence properties --

(in English) Now, red phosphors with large photoluminescence intensity and high color purity are required for display use. And red transparent photoluminescence materials with no visibility under room light and with excellent visibility under ultraviolet light has been demanded for security applications. We found a new molecular design concept of Eu(III) complexes to innovate photoluminescence intensity and solubility, that is coordinating two different phosphine oxide structures with Eu(III) ion, and have been developing many novel Eu(III) complexes based on this concept. By dissolving these Eu(III) complexes in polymer, transparent photoluminescence materials are obtained. Additionally, another Eu(III) complex functions as a fluorescence quencher through interaction with harmful substances and it can be used for sensor applications. This paper focuses on features of our Eu(III) complexes and their expected applications.
