Preliminary study on recognition of upward stairs by use of CNN and multi channelization for visually impaired people

(in English) Smartphones are used by many visually impaired people, and the users will increase in the future. In this research, we propose a smartphone-based system to help visually impaired people find upward stairs. We use our multi channelization technique, where various filters are applied to the images of upward stairs to generate their feature images. These images are fed into deep learning to improve the recognition accuracy. Several results are shown.
