Study of Radiation Patterns of Dual-band Horn Antenna for Receiving Antenna of 12- and 21-GHz-band Satellite Broadcasting

(in English) The 12-GHz band has been using for satellite broadcasting providing HDTV and UHDTV services in Japan. The 21-GHz band has also been allocated to satellite broadcasting in Europe, Africa, and Asia Pacific including Japan. We are studying a dual-band antenna to receive satellite broadcasting using these two frequency bands, which transmitted from the same orbital position. In this study, we studied the radiation patterns of dual-band horn antennas that were designed as the feed of a parabolic reflector antenna in the 12- and 21-GHz-band satellite broadcasting for household use. The receiving reflector antenna with the designed dual-band feed horn was satisfied with the reference patterns recommended by ITU-R while keeping an aperture efficiency of 70% or more.
