Phase Compensation Method in Mode Selective Switch Using Volume Holographic De-multiplexer

(in English) In mode-division multiplex (MDM) communication using few-mode fiber, it is expected to realize ROADM by introducing mode selective switch (MSS). MSS using volume hologram mode demultiplexer (VHDM) is proposed because of its advantages such as low cost. However, the signal light separated and demodulated by VHDM is the imperfect basic mode, and when the signal light is remultiplexed by Volume Hologram after switching, MXT of it becomes large, which impairs the performance of MSS. In this study, we proposed a method to simultaneously perform MSS and phase compensation of the separated light from VHDM by using a Spatial Light Modulator, and confirmed its operation by simulation. As a result, it was found that MXT of the signal after passing through the MSS system was improved.
