Luminescence and electrical properties of far-red ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ posphor thin films -- Improvement in luminescent characteristics by In addition --

(in English) The luminescent properties of ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ far-red phosphors were investigated by In addition. In the phosphor powder samples prepared by the solid-phase reaction method, the X-ray diffraction peak shifted to lower angle with increasing the amount of In, confirming the formation of Zn(Ga,In)2O4:Cr3+ mixed crystal. The photoluminescence (PL) intensity also increased by about 1.5 times. Since the intensities of both the Cr3+ direct PL excitation band and the Cr3+ absorption band of the diffuse reflection spectrum increase with In addition, the mixed crystal formation promotes the incorporation of Cr3+ ions into the host crystal lattice, resulting in the improvement in the PL characteristics. On the other hand, in the thin film samples prepared by an electron beam evaporation and annealed at 700℃ for 30 min, the effects of the In addition such as the mixed crystal formation, the improvement in luminescent properties and electrical conductivity were hardly observed.
