A microstrip antenna with pins for radio-wave-type endoscope in real scale model

(in English) In current endoscopic surgery, it is necessary to know the location of blood vessels in fatty tissue. The authors have proposed the antenna system for radio-wave-type endoscope using a microstrip antenna to detect the position of blood vessels. In the simulation, it has confirmed that loading four conductor pins on a dielectric substrate of microstrip antenna improves the accuracy of blood vessel detection. In this study, we conducted an experiment to detect a blood vessel-tissue mimicking phantom inserted in a fat-tissue mimicking phantom using the proposed antenna and evaluated the performance of the proposed antenna system. As a result, it was possible to detect the location of a blood vessel-tissue mimicking phantom with a diameter of 4mm, at a depth of 4mm from the surface of the phantom.
