Design and Performance Evaluation of Circularly Polarized Active Antenna Integrating Image-Rejection Mixer

(in English) We proposed and reported a circularly polarized down-conversion active antenna integrating an image-rejection mixer (IRM) and a dual-feed antenna. Unlike conventional IRM integrated antennas, the proposed antenna has an advantage that it does not require a radio frequency (RF)-band 90-degree coupler by effectively utilizing the feature of the dual-feed antenna. In this paper, the design of the intermediate frequency (IF)-band branch line coupler is discussed. Furthermore, the performance of the proposed active antenna is evaluated with simulated and measured results. The proposed antenna is capable of rejecting the image by more than 20 dB at the reception angles from −60° to 60°.
