In recent years, there are high expectations for reflective arrays, which can arbitrarily control the direction of reflection of incident radio waves, in order to expand the service range of next-generation mobile communications technology. We have proposed a method to control the orientation of thick-film liquid crystals used in reflect arrays by driving a two-directional electric field in order to speed up the fall response of the liquid crystals. We show that the proposed method can achieve a response time two orders of magnitude faster than the conventional method. In addition, a study for increasing the amount of phase modulation is also presented. |
