Three-Dimensional Digitalization of the Statue of Prince Shotoku and Interactive VR Theater Using HMD

(in English) This study aimed to enhance the understanding of Buddha statues, particularly focusing on the Statue of Prince Shotoku. The statue was digitalized in three dimensions using photogrammetry and CG technology. An experiential VR theater was developed, allowing interaction within the VR space through hand movements, utilizing an HMD and hand tracking technology. The paper reports on the 3D digitalization of the Statue of Prince Shotoku, highlighting the production methods for CG of parts not visible from the outside, and detailing the realization of interactions in the VR theater.
