A Study of Life-size Autostereoscopic Image Projection for Multiple Observers Using a Directional Screen
Yuki Hirano, Naoki Hashimoto (UEC)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In recent years, several autostereoscopic displays without the need for special glasses are sold. However, it is still difficult to achieve high resolution, simultaneous observation by multiple people, and large enough to be life-size at the same time. Therefore, we propose a method of projecting life-size images that can be viewed autostereoscopically by multiple
people, using a projector that can easily expand the size of image area. In this study, the directivity of the screen is improved by combining a retroreflective material and lenticular lens, and the reflected light from the two projectors projecting from directions synchronized with observer’s binocular positions enter the corresponding eyes, enabling autostereoscopic viewing from any position multiple people. In this paper, confirming the performance of the proposed screen and the appearance of stereopsis are evaluated.
