Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this study, we aimed to clarify the relationship between the direction of microsaccades and the direction of sustained attention by analyzing the direction of microsaccades elicited by a target detection task that induced attention in a top-down or bottom-up manner and maintained attention in a top-down manner at the exact location. We analyzed the direction of microsaccades elicited during the target detection task. We found no typical trend in the direction of microsaccades among participants, and no clear relationship was observed between the direction of the microsaccades and the direction of sustained attention. These results suggest that very limited conditions are required for the direction of attention to coincide with the occurrence of microsaccades.
