On television and other platforms, frame interpolation techniques are used to increase the frame rate of videos, making them appear smoother. This is especially effective for older videos or movies shot at 24 frames per second (fps). We discovered that applying this technology to very low frame rate video sources, around 1 fps, results in unique visual effects reminiscent of glitch art. Moreover, by carefully selecting the video or image sources to which frame interpolation is applied, it becomes possible to intentionally control the expression of the visuals. Furthermore, this paper presents a novel glitch art-like video expression method and also considers the feasibility of using the proposed method for other video creators. |
