Design of Small Antenna for Simple Reception System in 12-GHz-band Satellite Broadcasting

(in English) We have proposed a 12-GHz-band satellite broadcasting system for simple reception, which can be received with small antennas. Therefore, we designed a small antenna with a wide directivity in both elevation and azimuth angles for BS with left-hand circular polarization. The designed small antenna, which is a three-dimensional structure, has four antenna planes. Three-element planar antennas were tilted to match the elevation angle in Japan and arranged to form the antenna planes. In addition, by combining two antenna planes with a phase difference of 90 degrees, we created a virtual antenna plane between each plane to reduce the gain difference at each azimuth angle. Simulation results indicated that the designed antenna had a gain of 9.5 to 10.6 dBi for all elevation angles in Japan and 7.6 to 10.6 dBi for all azimuth angles.
