A novel driving technology is developed where data and scanning signals can be input to flexible displays from the backside of the polyimide film substrate using through-plastic vias (TPVs). This technology eliminates the need for signal wiring that are formed around the screen in conventional displays, enabling the bezel-less display structure. Furthermore, a flexible active-matrix bezel-less display (133 ppi, 160 × 160 pixels, monochromatic green) with oxide thin-film transistors is developed using micro-LEDs, and the developed bezel-less display provides moving images with video signals input from the substrate backside through the TPVs. |
