Image Formation Distance of Aquatic Image by Aquatic Display Using AIRR Obtained by Paraxial Approximation

(in English) The position equation of the aquatic image formed by aquatic display using AIRR (aerial imaging by retro-reflection) is derived by paraxial approximation and is clarified to have a small error under 2 % by comparing with the measured values. By constructing an experimental aquatic display system and comparing with the theoretical values, the measured image formation distances are 2 mm to 3 mm longer than the theoretical value, and the errors are within 2%. Since the aquatic image is formed without any underwater hardware, it is difficult to intuitively confirm the position of the image formation. Thus, our theoretical equation obtained in this study will be promising to facilitate optical design using aquatic display.
