Resolution evaluation of see-through image of holographic contact lens display

We have proposed a holographic contact lens which can produce focusable images for eyes by displaying hologram patterns on the spatial light modulator (SLM) embedded in the contact lens. Previously, we have evaluated the effects of higher-order diffraction and the transmittance on the see-through characteristics. It was shown that higher-order diffraction can be decreased by enlarging the aperture ratio of the SLM, and the transmittance can be improved by removing the polarizer or replacing the polarizer with a wavelength plate. In this study, we theoretically and experimentally evaluate the resolution of the see-through images which are observed through the periodic structure of the SLM. |
