Prediction and reproduction of the sensation of food penetration based on motion and audio information

(in English) The haptic parameters of a haptic feedback device (Phantom Premium 1.0) were used to reproduce the sensation of penetrating foods with a fork. We measured the motion data during penetrating the food with the Phantom, and the audio data generated in the contact between the fork and the food with a small microphone attached to the fork. We show that the haptic sensation of penetration can be simulated by using information which we can easily obtain to predict tactile sensation. It is expected to perform haptic communication more easily by applying our method.
