Spatial Factors and Postdictive Influences in the Flash-lag Effect
Akihiro Fukada, Kenji Yokoi (NDA)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In our previous study on the flash-lag effect, we observed asymmetric mislocalization of a flash around a moving stimulus and suggested the involvement of a time-consuming process depending on the interstimulus distance especially in front of the moving stimulus. The relationship between stimuli, however, was not clear due to the gridlike arrangement. So, in this study, we investigated the detailed relationship between them by placing flashes radially with equal intervals. Furthermore, the postdictive influence of motion perception was also examined by reversing the direction of motion. The results suggested that the time-consuming process depends on the interstimulus distance nonlinearly and motion signals about 60~90 ms after the flash influence the mislocalization.
