Holographic contact lens displays has been proposed as an AR (augmented reality) technology to take full advantage of Beyond 5G’s ability to integrate cyberspace with real space. If this technology is realized, humans will have a completely new visual experience that has never been seen before, but what kind of sensations and perceptions will be generated by this experience is unknown. Therefore, we will evaluate the following three points: (1) Can the eye focus on a hologram image generated by a holographic contact lens display in the same way as on a real object? (2) When the depth of field of a real object and a hologram image differ, does the hologram image appear to fit naturally into the outside world? (3) How does the appearance change when the movement caused by eye movement is compensated for using an eye rotation angle sensor and when it is not? Also, when the movement caused by eye movement is compensated for, how much delay is acceptable? By clarifying these effects on visual function, it will be possible to provide guidelines for the design and use of holographic contact lens displays. |
