We propose a method to expand the viewing zone of a light source array based 3D display, which consists of two flat panel displays that display a light source array and an elemental image array, by using eye-tracking technology. We also propose a method of 3D/2D switching and 3D/2D simultaneous display electrically by changing the images input to the two displays. In the prototype device, a 3D image with a wide viewing zone of 73.6° horizontally and 92.0° vertically was achieved by generating an elemental image array in real time according to the viewer's eye position. We also confirmed that 3D/2D switching and 3D/2D simultaneous display are possible by inputting images to the displays according to each display mode. |
