In recent decades, the development of photon counting image sensors have attracted great attention. In particular, SPAD image sensor, which has a different operating principle from conventional CMOS image sensors, are now beginning to realize functions and performances that exceeds those of CMOS image sensors. This paper summarizes the recent trends in development and research of SPAD device and architectures. |
