Designing of an ultra-thin laser backlight embedded in a holographic contact lens display

We previously proposed a holographic image generation technique for contact lens displays．In this study，we develop an ultra-thin laser backlight embedded in a thin contact lens to illuminate a spatial light modulator (SLM)．The laser backlight consists of a waveguide and three holographic optical elements (HOEs)．A specialized laser exposure system is designed and constructed，which enables the continuous exposures of the three HOEs and the control of diffraction efficiencies of the HOEs． |
