Cable television is now an important broadcasting medium alongside terrestrial and satellite broadcasting. It was launched in 1955 with the aim of resolving the difficulty of receiving terrestrial television broadcasting, and has since expanded its broadcasting services to include independent broadcasting (community channels), retransmission of BS digital broadcasting, and specialized multi-channel CS broadcasting. It has also started providing wired communication services such as internet connection services and telephone services, and is playing a role as a regional information infrastructure. Since the broadband era began, it has also provided wireless communication services such as MVNO, Wi-Fi, regional BWA, and local 5G, and is working on community-based projects to solve social issues such as a declining birthrate and aging population, and labor shortages. |
