Prediction of driver attention using a saliency estimation model integrated with visual motion features
Masataka Suzuki, Takeshi Kohama (Kindai Univ.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This study aims to enhance the prediction accuracy of a mathematical model for driver attention while driving a car by modifying and validating the detection and integration processes of visual motion features against a previous model.
The previous model exhibited limitations in integrating motion features owing to local bias in the detected momentum of feature points for highway driving scenes. In the proposed model, the momentum of the feature points undergoes a log transformation, and the motion components are subsequently extracted. Given that the visual information inside the car demonstrates a horizontal bias in the motion component, weights were applied to emphasize the horizontal component, and the integration process of motion features was modified accordingly.
A quantitative comparison of the simulation results indicates that the proposed model effectively improves the prediction accuracy across various scenes, including highway driving.
